The world is very good at teaching us how to want more.
More success.
More possessions.
More recognition.
More comfort.
More approval.
We are surrounded by messages telling us that happiness is always one achievement, purchase, relationship, or experience away.
So people keep reaching.
And still, many remain empty.
There is nothing inherently wrong with enjoying the good things God allows us to have. The problem begins when we ask temporary things to satisfy an eternal need.
They cannot.
Jesus Christ asked one of the most sobering questions in Scripture: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
Imagine gaining everything this world considers valuable and discovering at the end that you missed what mattered most.
That question deserves more than a passing thought.
Our culture often measures a successful life by what can be seen: accomplishments, money, possessions, influence, appearance, experiences, or the approval of other people.
God looks deeper.
He looks at the heart.
There are people surrounded by possessions who have no peace.
There are people surrounded by others who feel completely alone.
There are people who appear successful outwardly while inwardly wondering why none of it feels like enough.
Perhaps the problem is not that they need more.
Perhaps they are searching for something the world was never capable of giving them.
Our deepest need is not another temporary distraction.
Our deepest need is reconciliation with God.
Sin separated humanity from a holy God, and no amount of success, morality, religion, or good intentions can erase that separation.
This is why Jesus Christ came.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth entered our broken world, lived the sinless life we could not live, willingly went to the cross, bore the penalty for sin, and rose from the grave.
He offers something the world cannot manufacture and money cannot purchase: forgiveness, reconciliation with God, eternal life, and a hope that reaches beyond the grave.
That does not mean following Jesus Christ removes every hardship.
Christians still experience grief.
We still face uncertainty.
We still walk through painful seasons.
But our hope is anchored somewhere circumstances cannot reach.
It is anchored in Jesus Christ.
Maybe you have spent years searching for peace.
Maybe you achieved something you once desperately wanted only to discover that the satisfaction did not last.
Maybe life looks good from the outside, yet somewhere inside you know something is missing.
Do not ignore that emptiness.
It may be revealing something important.
You were created for more than accumulating things that eventually disappear.
You were created to know God.
The world can offer entertainment without peace, pleasure without purpose, information without truth, and success without salvation.
But it cannot save your soul.
Jesus Christ can.
You do not need to clean yourself up before coming to Him. Come with repentance. Come with faith. Come recognizing your need for a Savior.
The world will continue offering more.
Jesus Christ offers something infinitely greater.
He offers Himself.
And when everything temporary eventually passes away, Jesus Christ will still be enough.
